Parks, Parks, Parks!

We have some great parks here in Henderson. We went to one to today with our play group and it was freaking awesome. It was huge with two playgrounds, and these playgrounds were the best ones I have ever seen, you know how kids always want to climb up the slide well they have these cool slides that are meant for the kids to climb up ( I should have taken a picture of them but didn't have my camera out when Leila was on them). The best part about the parks are that the playgrounds are covered so it is tolerable to go in the middle of the day and the sun is not beating down on you. And they also have water features so the kids can run around in the water and get wet. And the parks are very clean and they have the spongy ground so there is not wood chips or sand everywhere. Leila loved the park and didn't want to leave.

Life in Sin City

Yeah for night gowns, especially ones that match our baby dolls night gown Leila at the aquarium, we went with our friends Madison and Tosha
Leila watching TV with her da da Getting her first haircut, she actually was pretty still during it. We did not cut off much just enough to clean it up
Loving the swimming pool
Trying to get her tan on
Playing with her friend Madison, they both get along pretty well
I have been surprised at how busy we have stayed. My family came and visited this past weekend. It was so much fun to spend time with them and have someone around during the day and night. We went boating, swimming, out to dinner, fixed and hung things around our house and to a Cirque Du So lei show. My sister Erin was here so she gave me a haircut and gave Leila her first official haircut besides me trimming random long hairs. It was so much fun and can't wait until they can come visit again. Paul is so busy with school, I knew he would be super busy but I don't think I completely understood how busy he is. He leaves for school around 8 and does not make it home until between 5 or 6 he is then home for about an hour and then is back to school studying until 11 and then he studies a good 8 or nine hours on Saturday, so needless to say I don't see a whole lot of him. I cannot complain to much because I know he has to do this to become a doctor and I am grateful that he is such a hard worker and willing to give it his all so he can succeed. Anyways so Leila and I have been having fun meeting new friends and finding new activities to do. There are tons of free classes, activities, play groups, and tours to do around here. We go swimming at our pool and with our ward/school play group. We occasionally try to go to the play ground but it is so blasted hot that we don't make it there very often. We definitely miss Utah and all of our friends and family but we love it here.

Leila decided to wake up at 4:30 this morning, I let her cry for a while to see if she would go back to sleep, but then she started yelling for me so I went and got her just after 5, I told her she could lay in bed with me. Well that was not a good idea she tossed and turned and rolled all over the bed so at 5:30 I told her she could go back to her crib or go play with toys in her room, she chose toys. I left her in her room and I went back to bed. Paul and I got up at 6:30 to read scriptures before he left for school, I heard her playing when we first got up and was surprised she did not come into our room. I went to check on her and this is what I found, she was out in the hall, poor thing was so tired.

18 month old thief on the loose

Yes you read that right our 18 month old is a little thief and I am not talking about just stealing mom and dad's things she actually stole from a store. We were at Best Buy looking at things, Leila had been in her stroller for most of the time but then crawled out and was looking at things on shelves she had been playing with a package of electronic cleaner near her stroller. When we went to walk out of the store I loaded her back in her stroller and we walked over to Costco. As we were making our way through Costco I noticed something in the stroller basket, it was the cleaner, Leila had stuck the cleaner in the basket. So we made our way back to Best Buy and returned it the, cashier just laughed. She could have at least taken something good.

Alisha's view of the move

So we are actually here in Henderson Nevada, our new home for the next four years. It has not quite hit me yet that I won't being going back to Utah for awhile even though all my stuff is here. We are adjusting pretty well, Leila has decided to wake up around 6 now (she use to wake up between 8 and 9), the sun comes up so much earlier here. In less then a week Leila went from hating the pool to loving it. We go to the pool almost every day. We have spent most of our days trying to get the house put back together we still have a little bit more to do but it is basically all done. It is really hot here we stay inside most days, I thought the wind would cool it off but I think it does the opposite it just gets hotter, I hate going out when it is windy it feels like the hottest air is just blowing on you it sucks really bad. One of the things I really miss is the cool summer nights cause it does not even get to slightly comfortable at night here it still like 97 degrees right now at 11 pm, so again we stay inside. I posted a bunch of pictures of our house sorry there are so many. Our living and dining room, but it is kind of empty because we don't have a dining room table Our family room, not a great picture it is actually bigger then this picture lets on Our Kitchen, it has lots of cupboard space and a big pantry
The master bathroom, it is gigantic compared to my last bathroom Our huge walk in closet, again gigantic compared to our last closet Master bedroom, this room stays cooler then any other room in the house it is sooo nice

So the last couple of years my birthday has always been at a difficult time, we were either studying for finals or Paul was studying for the MCAT. This year Paul wanted to make it really special. So he surprised me with tickets to see the Cirque Du Solei (sp?) Mystere show, and luckily his brother was in town for business and was able to watch Leila for us. The show was so cool, the acrobatics and stunts were amazing I loved the show. We also went to dinner, we were going to try Mesa Grill but it was super expensive and we decided we would just go to the cheesecake factory which was a good choice because it was national cheesecake day and all cheesecake was $1.50. I got the banana cheesecake and I highly recommend it, it was surprisingly delicious. Then on Saturday Paul took me out for breakfast I have definitely been spoiled. Thanks Paul for a great birthday!

Anyways back to our new home, we really love it here (so far). We miss all of our friends and family, it is really different not seeing everyone and a regular basis I guess we will get use to it. We would love to have visitors so anytime you want to visit you are welcome.

Fun before the move

Leila had way too much fun on the boat and crashed out

On the 24th of July we went boating with my parents, brother, two brother in laws, mother in law and Paul's cousins. My little brother was so sweet to take our cousin's little boys surfing, the boys had so much fun and it was really cool to see him surf with the boys on the board.

Leila flying the helipcopter A couple of weeks before we moved Paul, Leila and I went to the children's museum with Kara, Mia, Jenn and Cohen. It was lots of fun with so many things for the kids to do. Leila loved the helicopter and playing in the water. Paul, Leila and I stayed later and got dinner, played in the fountain and went shopping.
