Movie Night

Leila and I put our pajamas on, grabbed a bag of cookies and cuddled up in my bed to watch a christmas movie. It was a wonderful night!

Bellagio at Christmas

Leila and I went this afternoon to the Bellagio Conservatory with some friends. They had it all decorated for Christmas, it was beautiful. It was really fun to get out with friends. Leila loved the giant snowman. We also went out to the fountains and watched the show.
Leila is not much for smiling, I couldn't even get her to hold still, my friend Erica is holding her in that place

It has been awhile

It has been awhile, I kind of got sick of blogging for a little bit, plus I forgot to take my camera to Utah so I didn't have any pictures to post of our trip. Anyways we haven't been up to a ton just normal everyday things. Leila has been a little bit of a stinker when we go in the car, she doesn't want to get into her car seat, usually if I threaten to leave her and just sit her outside the car she will quickly change her mind and get into her seat, well the other night we were leaving costco and she did not want to get in so we sat her on the curb and told her bye, we started to get into the car and she waves back and says, "see ya yata ahyitata" (see ya later alligator). What a little stink she totally didn't care that we were going to leave her.

Trick or Treat Fun

I love Halloween especially now that I have a child. Leila was so excited to get her costume on. I had been a little worried because she has not wanted to wear it but on Thursday night we went to Paul's cousin's Halloween party and she eagerly put it on and then last night she was so excited when we told her she got to go get candy. We went trick-or-treating in my parents neighborhood first. Leila would jump from house to house, say trick-or-treat then thank you and then try to pull the candy out so she could examine it and then she was off to the next house telling me more candy. We then went down to Paul's mom's neighborhood, she trick or treated with her cousin Tamari and then we went over to Paul's aunt Marilyn's house where we were able to enjoy candy and see more cousins (Seth, Simon, Jonah and Brighton). Leila tried to steal Simon's candy as if she didn't already have enough.

"The Boys"

We had so much fun this past weekend, especially Leila. She love playing with "the boys". Paul's cousin Nan, her husband Jon and their four boys came to stay with us. It was crazy and wild but a blast. They arrived on Thursday and Leila and the boys played outside with rocks and the sidewalk chalk. On Friday we went to the children's museum, picked up lunch at Wendy's and then had lunch at the park. That night the boys taught Leila how to climb the stair railing and then jump onto the love sac. On Friday we headed down to the strip, we went to M&M world and watched the fountain show at the Belagio. We stopped for lunch at El Pollo Loco and then came home for naps (everyone was beat). That night we went to a carnival, the kids played on all the bounce house toys and petted the animals. This is where the fun night ended, as we were on our way to Mimi's cafe for some dinner Leila began throwing up, we had Brighton and Jonah in our car and I look at them and they were gagging and covering their mouths. We quickly rolled the windows down and pulled over to a gas station, we got Leila and the car seat cleaned up as best we could and the boys got in their parents car. We took Leila home, it was weird cause she seemed to be fine and wasn't acting sick before or after the incident, we think she might get car sick because we had been in the car for awhile and she did this same thing on the way to lake powell. Anyways Nan's family left Sunday morning, Leila was so sad to seem them go, she loved having friends to play with from sun up to sun down. She even named her dolls after them she has a Sethy doll (named after Seth) and a Simey doll (named after Simon). We can't wait to see them in a week when Leila and I head up to Utah.

White Coat

Last Sunday we attended Paul's white coat ceremony. All the DO students recieve a short white coat that they wear anytime the are out in the community representing the school and during there 3rd and 4th year rotations. They get a short coat when they are student doctors and then when they graduate they get a long coat. The ceremony was very long and I am glad we got a babysitter for Leila, even though the ceremony was kind of lame it actually feels like this whole medical school thing is real and that he really is becoming a doctor, well at least that is how I feel. Paul on the other hand said the fact that he is in class all day everyday and studying makes the whole thing seem real to him.

Long post

The last couple of weeks have been so much fun. We have had lots of visitors and lots of fun activities. Kara and Jenn came to visit several weekends ago. We went shopping, layed out by the pool, went out to eat, and stayed up late just laughing and being silly. It was so good to see them and have some good girl time. I owe a big thanks to Paul who spent most of his weekend watching Leila so I could just hang out. The day after Kara and Jenn left my mom flew in. Leila loved having her nana here, she followed her around all week and wanted nothing to do with me or Paul, everything had to be done by nana. We went shopping and out to eat and my mom basically took care of Leila while I read the entire Twilight series, which I loved, I am totally obsessed with vampires now and am really excited for the movie. Leila was so sad when my mom left, she cried and cried and the first couple of times I went into her room to get her up in the morning or up from her nap she would ask for nana. We then had a visit from my sister Leslie her husband Jason and my brother Marcus. Leila of course attached herself to them and only wanted their help with naps, dinner and bedtime. It was fun to spend time with them. Leila is now looking forward to a visit from Paul's mom and sister.
Now a few things about Leila, she weighs a whopping 23 lbs (25%) which is a huge increase since her 15 month appointment which she only weighed 17 lbs 13 oz and she is 30 inches tall (5%). She is such a busy girl and so much fun, she keeps us laughing all the time. She loves books her favorites right now are Patty Cake, Miss Mary Mack, My Goodnight Book, Ducks in a Muck, Birthday Monsters, and The Monster at the End of the Book, she is always looking at books or asking me to read to her. We go to the library every week to find new books. She loves Elmo, Barney and her bebe dolls (baby dolls). She really likes going to her tumbling class her favorite things to do there are to hang on the bars, walk on the balance beam and jump on the tramp. Leila is talking so much and is starting to talk in sentences, she learns a dozen new words every day. My favorite is when we were going to the store and she said to me, "mama I nee my bebe daw" (mama I need my baby doll). Other favorite words are sexy, ice cream, head band, elbow, candy, pizza, cheese, no diaper, shoes, and be happy. I love that she is talking so much, especially now that she can tell me what she wants or what is wrong. Leila sleeps really well at night from about 9-8 and then takes a 2-3 hour nap during the day. She makes us so happy. We love it here in Henderson, I just wish it would cool down I am sick of ninety degree weather.

I just started doing some digital scrapbooking, I had heard of it but didn't really understand it well a friend I met had just started doing it and showed me how to do a few things and I love it, I still am not very good and have alot to learn but it is so much fun, plus there is not a huge mess with scrapbook supplies everywhere, my next step is to figure out how to print them. I can't wait to see all the pages I have made in a book.

Wait, you are way to young!

Leila had been in the front room playing with her daddy's scooter helmet, I took some pictures of her and then went back to the family room a few minutes later Leila came running into the kitchen and threw something into he garbage (yes she knows where the garbage is, I have trained her well), she came over to me smelling like mint and chewing something quite vigorously. I soon noticed that the thing she was chewing was blue and was gum from my purse. I asked her what she had and she said "yay gum", I tried to grab it out of her mouth and she took off running and yelling "no my gum". So I let her chew it for a little bit and then we threw it out. Oh goodness she is growing up way to fast.

Parks, Parks, Parks!

We have some great parks here in Henderson. We went to one to today with our play group and it was freaking awesome. It was huge with two playgrounds, and these playgrounds were the best ones I have ever seen, you know how kids always want to climb up the slide well they have these cool slides that are meant for the kids to climb up ( I should have taken a picture of them but didn't have my camera out when Leila was on them). The best part about the parks are that the playgrounds are covered so it is tolerable to go in the middle of the day and the sun is not beating down on you. And they also have water features so the kids can run around in the water and get wet. And the parks are very clean and they have the spongy ground so there is not wood chips or sand everywhere. Leila loved the park and didn't want to leave.

Life in Sin City

Yeah for night gowns, especially ones that match our baby dolls night gown Leila at the aquarium, we went with our friends Madison and Tosha
Leila watching TV with her da da Getting her first haircut, she actually was pretty still during it. We did not cut off much just enough to clean it up
Loving the swimming pool
Trying to get her tan on
Playing with her friend Madison, they both get along pretty well
I have been surprised at how busy we have stayed. My family came and visited this past weekend. It was so much fun to spend time with them and have someone around during the day and night. We went boating, swimming, out to dinner, fixed and hung things around our house and to a Cirque Du So lei show. My sister Erin was here so she gave me a haircut and gave Leila her first official haircut besides me trimming random long hairs. It was so much fun and can't wait until they can come visit again. Paul is so busy with school, I knew he would be super busy but I don't think I completely understood how busy he is. He leaves for school around 8 and does not make it home until between 5 or 6 he is then home for about an hour and then is back to school studying until 11 and then he studies a good 8 or nine hours on Saturday, so needless to say I don't see a whole lot of him. I cannot complain to much because I know he has to do this to become a doctor and I am grateful that he is such a hard worker and willing to give it his all so he can succeed. Anyways so Leila and I have been having fun meeting new friends and finding new activities to do. There are tons of free classes, activities, play groups, and tours to do around here. We go swimming at our pool and with our ward/school play group. We occasionally try to go to the play ground but it is so blasted hot that we don't make it there very often. We definitely miss Utah and all of our friends and family but we love it here.
