Pre-team meet 2014

I think this little girl could eat, sleep and breath gymnastics, we've even caught her doing gymnastic poses in her sleep.  She has worked incredibly hard and I am so proud of her.  She was invited to join pre-team gymnastics in November, most of the girls had been doing pre-team since the summer and hot shots the year before that so Leila had some catching up to do. She was always very focused during practice and listened to her coaches.  This gymnastics program has increased her confidence and made her very determined.  I thought all the practices would begin to wear on her but she still enjoys going and loves every minute of it.  She doesn't even mind missing out on playing with friends.  Starting in January they begin learning their routines for their meet.  She worked hard in the gym and then would come home and work on them some more.  We told her to just have fun and try her best!  I was a little surprised that she never got nervous or didn't want to do it.  When she was in dance we would have to drag her on stage crying for her recitals.  But for her meet she was just plain excited.

Picture overload ahead and sorry for the poor picture quality, they don't allow flashes in the gym and there are no windows for light.

They warmed up and stretched at the beginning.

And then marched in and lined up.

Leila is second from the left

They did their floor routine first and she was 2nd to go.  She did so good but both Paul and I forgot to record video of it.

She got a 9.30 on her floor routine and the high score.

Next up was Vault, we were having some camera and video camera issues so we didn't get very many pictures and the video is of her first vault but her second vault was even better.

I think she got a 9.45 on Vault but I can't remember and I didn't get a picture of the score

Bars were next, this is Leila's hardest event but she still did well.  I think she got an 8.9 on bars.

And last but not least was balance beam which is Leila's best event and she totally rocked it.

I love this picture of her coach talking with her and Leila listening so intently.

High score on the beam!

These boys do so awesome!  They spend lots of time watching gymnastics and for the most part are so good.

Leila got an award for best form!

And then tied for 2nd place!

The rest of Spring Break and other random stuff

Wednesday was spent doing laundry and cleaning up after our trip.  That evening Paul and I got to go on a date.  We picked Zombie Burger and then ran a few errands.  We did a swap with our friends and the kids had so much fun playing at their friends house that night.    On Thursday we made a trip to Costco, had lunch there and then went to Monkey Joe's.  The kids bounced and played all afternoon and then we took Leila to gymnastics.

Finally got a picture of her climbing the rope.  She made it to the top about a month ago!  The first time she climbed to the top her entire team was cheering her on and clapping when she finally made it.  I can't even begin to tell you how good gymnastics has been in her life.

On Friday Paul needed to study and had a work meeting.  I took the kids to play group at the church, we spent several hours there.  I stopped at the store on the way home and in the few seconds it took me to park and open the passenger door Greydon had unbuckled and somehow twisted himself in his seat belt.  It was wrapped around his neck and the seat belt had locked up so I couldn't pull any slack out.  I could put my fingers between his neck and the seat belt so it wasn't choking him but it was tight and there was no way I could get it to unwrap or unlock.  If he was struggling to breath I would have called 911 or ran into the store for scissors but he could breath fine.  I didn't want to cut it or I would be dealing with a broken seat belt.  I called Paul and luckily he had just finished his meeting  so he grabbed tools and met us at the store.  We ended up having to unbolt the seat belt to get enough slack to unwrap it.  It was a pretty scary and stressful 30 minutes.  Paul took the boys home and Leila and I did some grocery shopping.  That evening we watched our friends kids (from our swap).  It was another fun night with friends.

On Saturday Paul had to go back to work.  We played the Wii, went to the craft store and made lots of Perler bead creations.

Before Spring Break Leila was picked at star student, she had to fill out a big poster and decorate it.  She insisted on coloring the entire thing.  And since we procrastinated a bit we were up kind of late coloring.

I laid this little guy down for a nap with a clean face but then he woke up with a mustache, I never found the marker.  He must of hid somewhere, he'll probably bring it out again during nap time and decorate the walls or something.

Trying to enjoy some decent weather.  I wish Spring would just stay, we will get a day or two of nice weather and then its back to freezing cold.  I'm tired of being teased.

Pizza night with the kids and we actually went out for pizza instead of just making it.  We love Leaning Tower of Pizza!

This little boy gives the best snuggles,  he squeezes your neck so tight and wraps his little legs around your body and says, "I love you the mostest".
