Over Conference weekend we met up with Paul's family in Grover Utah. Paul's cousin Shannon's family has a farm and cabins there and we usually spend a weekend there every fall. I just love it there and love spending time with our family. The kids get super dirty but have so much fun playing outside and playing with all their cousins. Me and the kids drove there on Thursday afternnoon (6 hour drive) and got there at dinner time, we met the family at the restaurant Slackers for burgers and fries. On Friday we headed to a campground for lunch and then we were off to Lower Bowns for fishing and playing in the super cold water.
The cold water didn't stop any of the kids they were splashing around in it like it was bath water. And I'm pretty sure Leila completely dunked herself in it.
I loved waking up every morning and watching the sunrise over the mountains, it was so beautiful. Greydon loved playing out on the deck, especially during the chilly mornings.
The kids were so dirty everyday, at one point the girls dumped dirt on each others heads and when I went to wash Leila's hair out, mud ran off her head because there was so much dirt. The bath tub looked disgusting at night after all the kids had their baths.
On the second day we head to "Devils Garden" for lunch and to hike around. There were so many cool rock formations to climb on and explore. The kids had so much fun there. Afterwards we headed to calf creek to play in the water. Some of the group hiked to the lower falls but Connie and I stayed back with the younger kids.
It started getting late and the group was still not back from their hike, so I loaded all the kids (mine plus Sean and Heather's and Brighton) into my car and headed back to the cabins. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows around the fire that night.
On the third day we drove to Capitol Reef and hiked the Great Wash. The kids loved exploring all the caves and rocks. We took the hike nice and slow and just let the kids have fun.
Greydon and Mylee found a lizard and trapped it in some bushes and then the kids hiked a huge pile of rocks and pretended they were dragons.
At the end of the hike the kids found a little dirt cave and again got super dirty. You can see the layer of orange sand all over Greydon's face.
Monday we got up and tried to help clean the cabins but my kids were being super difficult so we ended up just packing up and heading home. We had so much fun with our family and enjoyed the cooler weather and time outside. And then to our surprise when we got home Vegas was having much cooler weather too and lots of rainstorms, it was heavenly.
