Ward Campout

Our ward campout was last weekend.  At first I didn't think we would be able to go because of Paul's schedule but he ended up being free so we were able to go.  The stake has some property about 45 minutes away from our house.  The area was gorgeous and I actually felt like I was in the mountains, kind of a surprise since we live in flat Iowa.  We got there and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.  And then the ward had a little fireside before bed.

We only have a two man tent and two sleeping bags but we have great friends that let us borrow their six man tent and some other friends that let us use their sleeping bags.  It was really cold that night but we came prepared with lots of blankets, sweatshirts and thick socks.  Leila and Greydon were bundled up in mummy bags with several blankets on top and they said they stayed warm the entire night.  Asher was bundled up plus lots of blankets and he slept pretty well too.  I on the other hand did not sleep great, I was warm but I was so worried about everyone else being warm that I kept getting up to check on the kids and recover them with blankets and then our air mattress went flat.  The next morning the ward provided a pancake breakfast and we played on tire swings, drank hot chocolate by the fire and went for a little hike. It was a great time and I hope we can go again next year.
