Cottonwood Heights

Leila and I got together with my friend Ashley and her son Nathan. We went swimming at Cottonwood Heights. I hadn't been there in years, they have changed it a bunch and made it way more kid friendly. It was so fun to see Ashley and her cute belly, she is due about 3 weeks after me.

Lake Powell Overload

Here is an overload of pictures. Sorry this will be long but I want to be able to remember this trip. We went to Lake Powell with my family for an entire week during the middle of July. My parents bought into a houseboat share and so this was are first time on this houseboat. We were a little worried because the people before us had trouble getting the engines working. We arrived about 8PM I went to ceritfy our boat as mussel free, but because there was some water in our balist system we had to pull them out and have them flushed, then we had to transfer all our supplies to the boat and launch, by the time we got over to the houseboat it was dark. The first night on the boat was hot. Everyone was going to sleep on top of the houseboat but I was worried about having Leila up there. So I put Leila in a bedroom and I slep on the pull out couch. This was a bad idea we didn't get to bed until about 1am, and the bedroom was so hot. Leila woke up at 2am so I went in and tickled her but she did not go back to sleep until after 3 and then she was up at 5:30. I didn't sleep because I was either up with Leila or it was so hot. Anyways Leila was super sleepy the next day. So for the rest of the trip we slept up top on mats with Leila sleeping in between Paul and I. The rest of the week the nights were pretty comfortable. Leila loved sleeping outside and loved looking at the stars, she called them her goodnight lights, every morning she would tell me to make the light go away and bring her good night lights back. The engines worked great for us after my dad was able to confince a mechanic to come over and adjust a few things. We found a great canyon to park the houseboat. It had a beach and was nice and private. We had so much fun on the trip it was hot but we just spent a lot of time in the water. Leila loved the water she could have spent all day in it. She was really good about wearing her life jacket. The slide and diving board were a huge hit and for some reason they were most popular right before bed time. We would take a bath of the back of the houseboat right before bed. The boys got the great idea of getting their body and swimsuit all soapy and then going down the slide, the soap sent them flying down the slide so fast. Leila loving the water and swimming with Paul Leila became such a little fish on this trip she learned how to keep herself on her stomach instead of letting the life jacket flip her over
Leila always wanted to be held while we were on the boat, she usually fell asleep soon after we got on the boat, she took lots of great naps while we were there
The boys did so much wakeboarding, by Wednesday they were all exhausted
Paul working on one of his many tricks
Sorry for the overload of pictures of Paul wakeboarding we took so many that I had to post some of them
Leslie and Leila watching the wakeboarders
One of Leila's favorite things to do was push people of the back of the boat and then jump to them, the problem was she would barely wait for the person to come up and she was jumping to them
Relaxing on her back
Leila practicing floating on her back
The one thing my doctor told me I couldn't do was waterski, so I didn't do that but I couldn't resist surfing. I had to wear a giant life jacket so it would fit over my belly but it was huge through my shoulder area. I finally learned to surf without the rope, I couldn't do it very long but at least I got it
My mom, Leila and I rode the tube, Leila loves the tube partly because I don't think she know to be scarred of it, she doesn't realize she could fall off of it, but knowing her she probably wouldn't care even if she did
Leila loved the slide but would only go down it if someone was holding her
Taking one of her many naps while on this trip
We had so much fun on this trip. Thanks mom and dad for a wonderful time!

Swimming at White Towers

Jumping off the wall, luckily there was a wall separating the kiddie pool from the deep end or Leila probably would have just walked herself right into the deep end Swimming with daddy Practicing her swimming with daddy and NeNe Playing with Tamari We got together with Paul's mom, Heather, Tamari and Mylee to go swimming at white towers. Leila loves the water and could spend all day in the pool if we let her. She loves to jump in, go off the diving board, and dunk her head, she doesn't even mind if she gets water up her nose. She makes me a little nervous because she is so daring and the more time we have spent at the pool the more daring she has become. She thinks that she can swim all be herself, she will jump in without anyone there to catch her and she wants to spend time trying to swim back and forth between two people. She is getting better when she jumps in she can bring herself up to the surface and get some air and she can swim between two people but can't do it with her head out of the water. It has been so fun watching her learn and become more confident in the water.

We are back

We just made it back from a month in Utah. I am really behind and have a lot of pictures to post. To start we have the 4th of July. We spent the whole morning helping my parents build a playset for their backyard. We didn't do so much building as we did just organizing the parts. They bought the set at Costco and it came in 7 large boxes. None of the parts were labeled or in any kind of order so Leslie, Paul and I spent all morning organizing and labeling the parts. It took quite a while to build (like several weeks) and I will post pictures of it later, but Leila loves it! We then spent the afternoon and evening with Paul's mom, sister and brother's family. We went to the Sandy parade and carnival, had dinner and then watched fireworks. Leila was not into the bouncy houses, she gets a little overwhelmed by all the older kids but she did love the carnival games and earning the silliest little prizes. It was such a fun evening! Leila sliding down the huge inflatable slide Leila, NeNe and Mari getting ready to watch the parade Throwing poppers while waiting for the parade to start Enjoying the parade Leila and mommy waiting for the fireworks to start, Leila loved the fireworks! Cute little Mylee!
