Pioneer Day

On Pioneer day we got up and Leila went over to Tamari's to play and spend some time with her cousins and then we headed up to my mom's house so I could do some stuff to get ready for Lake Powell and so Leila and Greydon could play with Logan.  That afternoon we headed over to Cottonwood Heights with Connie to watch a parade and participate in the festivities.  It was really hot durning the parade but Leila loved it.  We thought since we were at the end of the parade route we wouldn't get much candy but we were wrong, people had tons of candy and were just trying to get rid of it at the end so they were dumping it in our laps.  Leila also got a cowboy hat from one of the cheerleaders.  At the very end Leila and I ran out to were the fire department was spraying their hose so that we could get cooled down, it felt so nice!  We then headed over to the park were they had free childrens crafts and games. Leila did not want to get her face painted or her hair colored but wanted Greydon to have his hair sprayed and she wanted to pick the color and of course she picked purple.  After Greydon's hair was colored Leila decided she wanted her hair done too,  we ended up with two purple heads.

Leila loved the free crafts and spent about two hours doing crafts.  She made a necklace, dipped candles, made sand art, and made a cowboy badge and hat.  Greydon was so content to just sit in his stoller and hang out.  We then got dinner and played on the playground.  As the sun began to go down we went and layed our blanket out and hung out on the grass.  While we were waiting for the fireworks to start Leila decided she wanted a funnel cake so I took her to get one we quickly ordered only to find out there was about a 30 minute wait until you got your cake.  During the wait Leila fell asleep in my arms, my arms were dead by the time we got back to our blanket.  We watched the fireworks which were pretty decent and then hauled two sleepy kids to the car.  It was a really fun day and the best part was most of it was free.
