At the end of June Paul had some several week days off because he was on ER that month, normally he only gets weekend days off. We decided to go to the Omaha zoo for the day. We surprised the kids with the activity and they were so excited. Omaha is about 2 hours from our house. We got up that morning and packed a lunch and snacks and headed for the zoo. The zoo wasn't very busy and we had great weather, sunny but not too hot.
Greydon really wanted to see the rhino's so he was excited to get to sit on this statue and then actually see them pretty close up.
They had this cool dinosaur dig area and the kids loved it, they dug for bones for over 45 minutes before we dragged them away to see the rest of the zoo. And the stuff they were digging in was not actually sand but little pieces of rubber so they didn't end up all dusty and dirty.
Asher loved the whole zoo, he loved hearing the names of the animals and repeating them over and over.

Leila said her favorite was seeing the monkeys and gorillas. I think that was my favorite part too because they were so active and easy to see.
We ended the day with a visit to the aquarium and then a stop at the playground.
