Ward camp out

When they announced the ward camp out just over a month ago my kids began begging to go and counting down the days.  Almost every weekend they would ask if it was word camp out day.  Luckily Paul was off that weekend, well he still had to work Friday and couldn't guarantee when he would be home that evening, but we just hoped it wouldn't be too late.  We borrowed our neighbors tent since our 4 man tent no longer fits our family.  I spent hours searching for and fixing holes in our air mattress.  And I rounded up sleeping bags, we have two, we bought one more (they are pretty pricey) and we borrowed a 4th.  I didn't plan to do dinner up their since last time were were scrambling to get dinner made and our tent set up before the fireside and games.

I was all packed and ready to go by 5 o'clock and was just waiting to hear from Paul, that's when I get a text saying he has a level 1 trauma coming in.  Ughhh, of course he would get a trauma!  Luckily he still made it home just after six, we ate subway on the way to our ward's beautiful campground and got our tent set up before it was dark.  The stake property is really nice.  They have running water, flush toilets, showers,  cabins, campgrounds, fire pits, a large pavilion, a lodge, electricity, tire swing, a large grassy area, and tons of places to explore.

The kids played games on the grass and then roasted marshmallows.  We had a wonderful fireside and then went to bed.  Leila and Greydon went to sleep pretty quick, Asher struggled to calm down, he just kept talking and rolling around.  Eventually everyone went to sleep.  Unfortunately our air mattress went flat again so I pretty much didn't sleep at all.   The kids slept until about 7 AM.  Paul took the boys out to make hot chocolate while Leila and I slept a little longer.  Pretty soon it started to rain, not a ton but enough that we quickly packed up our tent and got all of our bedding put away.  The ward made breakfast for all the families and then we spent some time playing on the swings and hiking around the camp.  We had lots of fun and the kids are already talking about going camping next year.

So fun! Will has been begging to go camping ever since we went in June. We were going to go this past weekend since the Elders Quorum were doing a campout. Landon ended up having emergency surgery and we didn't end up going. The joys of residency right? Looks like the kids had so much fun. Miss you!
