Day 7 Pearl Harbor

Sunday morning Paul and I got up and rode our bikes over to Ted's bakery to get some french doughnuts (they are only available on Sunday)
We packed up our stuff and then headed for Honolulu.  Paul and I were going to Pearl Harbor while everyone else was going to the beach.  Pearl Harbor was the only "have to see" item on my list.  It was so amazing to see the memorial.  I love history and learning more is so interesting for me. It was very sad to see so many that sacrificed their lives for our freedom.  I could have spent a lot of time their reading all the memorials and plaques.

I should not have worn a dress. It was super windy and I spent a lot of time keeping my dress from flying above my head.

After Pearl Harbor our friends picked us up and we went to Leonards for Malasadas.  If you've never had a Malasada you need to, it's a Portuguese donut and so delicious.

Our next stop was Waikiki beach.  I'm glad I got to see it but so happy we stayed on the North Shore and not in Waikiki.  It's way too loud, crowded and smelly just not the type of vacation I would want.

The Karren's and Larsen's hung out on the beach for a bit and then we went shopping at the International market to find souvenirs for our kids.  Then we stopped for yummy hamburgers (I can't remember the restaurants name, but it was good) and then headed to the airport.  We were lucky this time to get on the direct flight to Salt Lake.

It was an amazing and relaxing trip to Hawaii, I couldn't have asked for a better time!  It was a nice break from our kids, school and just life.  I missed my kids like crazy especially little Asher (I had to pump the entire trip so I wouldn't lose my milk) but I'm so glad we had wonderful grandparents willing to watch them so that we could truly have a fabulous vacation!
